Discuss this question at the beginning or the end: What in the sermon did you find helpful, convicting, or encouraging?
In what ways is Jesus the King unlike the many kings who came before him, even the “good” ones?
In Isaiah 11:3-4, Jesus is described as one who exercises a perfect justice. How should this characteristic of Christ affect the way we relate to the oppressed today?
According to Isaiah’s later words in chapter 53, what makes Jesus the King most unique? Why is it important to remember this during the Christmas season?
In what ways is the “kingdom to come” like the garden of Eden that God first gave to mankind? What specifically about this coming kingdom excites you?
What is the significance that “peoples” and “nations” are mentioned in the last verse (Isaiah 11:10)? What does this tell us about the nature of God’s mission?
